The Central Bank of Bahrain (“CBB”) is a public corporate entity that is responsible for maintaining monetary and financial stability in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is also the single integrated regulator of Bahrain’s financial industry.

We regulate the financial industry in Bahrain. This includes the implementation of the Kingdom’s monetary and foreign exchange rate policies, the management of government reserves and debt issuance, the issuance of national currency and overseeing the country’s payments and settlement systems. 

The CBB is the sole regulator of Bahrain’s financial sector, covering the full range of banking, insurance, investment business, and capital market activities.

Focus Area

  • The solution must be truly innovative or significantly different from existing offerings, or offer a new use for existing technologies.
  • The solution must offer identifiable direct or indirect benefits to customers.
  • Firms must have the intention to deploy the solution in Bahrain on a broader scale after successfully exiting the sandbox.
  • Fintech, regtech or suptech business models are accepted 
  • Company willing to test services in CBB’s regulatory sandbox must obtain a local commercial registration, and segregated bank accounts with a local bank
